A Heart for God
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
[Hebrews 4:12]
”and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart”
You are an open book to God. There is nothing that you do, wish, speak, think or feel that He does not know.
Are you OK with that?
I am.
A few years ago, when I was still trying to fit God into my busy, exciting, ‘fun’ life, I could not have said that. My intentions were all wrong and my heart was not pure!
Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. [II Timothy 2:22]
Today, by His grace, I am a completely different person. I enjoy a close and loving relationship with my Heavenly Father – and would not trade it for one minute of my old ways!
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. [Psalm 51:10]
Throughout this year, I have learned even more valuable lessons! One of which is ‘be true to yourself’. Be someone that you can be confident and privileged to ‘know’ and don’t for one second, let the criticism of others influence who you are!
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves. [Philippians 2:3]
Most importantly, be true to God! Be the daughter He yearns for you to be! Knowing that you are honest and upfront with God instills a magnificent and calming peace that cannot be replaced, substituted or matched!
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. [Matthew 5:8]
Attacks will come against you in all shapes and sizes – most often unexpectedly!
But you can arm yourself with the word of God, you can shield yourself from these attacks by having a pure and loving heart filled with the Holy Spirit!
When ‘people’ attack you and attempt to hurt you – God will remain steadfast and true! He will arm you with His almighty protection!
19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,
20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,
21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,
25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. [Hebrews 10:19-25]
When your heart is filled with the love and peace that God can provide, you are a new person! It is easy to forgive others for these ‘attacks’ and love them despite your fleshly temptations! Rely on His strength and love and not your own.
